DECORATED MOSQUE
Macedonia has 580 Mosques, one of the most interesting and unique is Decorated Mosque in Tetovo, Macedonia. It was built in 1438. The architect behind the Decorated Mosque was Isak Bey.
Most Mosques of the time had sultans, beys or pashas financing their constructions, but the Decoreted Mosque, was financed by two sisters from Tetovo.
The current courtyard of the Decorated mosque is filled with many flowers, a fountain, and a Türbe. The octagonal “türbe” house is the resting place of Hurshida and Mensure, the two sisters who financed the construction of the mosque.
